Bellaire Schools Educational Announcement:
Bellaire Schools will be operating on a Hybrid Educational Model through Friday, January 15. It is our goal to resume full time, face-to-face instruction, on Tuesday, January 19. This decision will be made based on the number of students and staff under quarantine and in consultation with the Belmont County Health Department. Families are encouraged to communicate with their Building Principals so that we have the most recent information on students’ health status. As a reminder, the current grading period and first semester will end Friday, January 15th. Students should plan accordingly and consult their individual instructors on how and if late work will be accepted. Should parents have additional questions, those should be directed to their children’s individual buildings.
From Mr. Jenkins, Superintendent: Due to inclement weather and staffing issues, Bellaire Local Schools will now be fully remote for the rest of the week. Building and grade level staff will be in contact with families on instruction and assignments. Have a safe and happy holiday season. Go Big Reds!
Bellaire local schools will be using the fully remote option today December 16, 2020.
Bellaire Schools will be in yellow/hybrid learning from December 7th-18th.
BELLAIRE MEAL SERVICE DURING REMOTE INSTRUCTION:
Pre-order begins tomorrow, November 18th, 2020. Pickups begin Thursday, November 19th.
All meals will be PRE-ORDER ONLY. Failure to pre-order your meal the preceding day by 6pm will result in no meals for your child for that day.
To pre-order a meal, call 740-676-2405 by 6pm of the preceding day. For example, to have a meal on Thursday, November 19, you must call by 6pm on Wednesday, November 18.

You may pick up your meal(s) at any of the buildings regardless of you child’s grade level from the hours of 11am until 12:30pm, daily. You will have to identify which Building at the time you order your meal(s).

From Mr. Jenkins, Superintendent-
BIG REDS NATION: It has become necessary for the Bellaire Schools to implement its remote learning plan beginning Tuesday, November 17th. This remote delivery will extend through Friday, December 4th. You should monitor your child’s school social media for updates. We will reassess our situation on an ongoing basis.
Specific directions regarding your child’s building learning plan are available through your child’s building social media and that specific building’s remote learning plan. Students will be expected to follow their schedule within that learning plan. The schools will remain open and staff will be reporting.
I believe all of us can agree that students are better served in school; that they learn best in a classroom. This action became necessary when our district absentee rate reached 25%. It should be noted that the clear majority of this 25% were not active COVID cases nor those students who have been quarantined as ‘close contacts.’ Rather, most of these absentees were non-COVID related.
Finally, I want to thank the community for its hard work during this difficult situation. Although we have had COVID cases brought into the school, we have had no COVID spread while students attended school. This is in not small part due to our student following safety protocols, such as wearing masks.
We all plan and hope to be back in school on Monday, December 7th.

We have become aware that some are concerned over the bottled water we are giving our students. Rest assured student safety is our central concern. We did identify some water in the district had a 'best by' which had passed. This is very different that an 'expiration date'. Out of an abundance of caution, we are replacing that water. However, please keep the following in mind: per the U.S. FDA, and other health professionals this water is perfectly safe to drink. If a bottle has sediment at the bottom, it was probably minerals settling from the water not plastics leaching from the bottle. This is because a temperature of 150+ for an extended period is required for plastics to leach. Our water is not stored at high such high temps. Thank you and GO BIG REDS!
Due to Covid-19 and the need for seating charts to preform contact tracing on buses if needed, Bellaire Local Schools will not be accepting bus notes until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience and would like to thank each of you for your understanding and cooperation.
Big Reds Community,
Please see our COVID-19 "At a Glance" Plan to reopen, restart, and reconnect. Our goal is to begin the school year in GREEN and as traditional as possible. With 40 days until our opening, circumstances could change. You will also find a letter from the Belmont County Department of Health in regards to school openings. We appreciate your patience and flexibility throughout this time. Go Big Reds!
To further comply with the governor's order, Bellaire Schools will continue with remote learning for the remainder of the academic year. The last day for students is May 15th. Grades will be finalized during the week of May 18th.
Continue to communicate with teachers and principals with any questions. Thank you students, parents, and teachers for your effort, patience, and commitment during this time. More end-of-year information will be shared as decisions and plans are finalized.
To remain consistent with the governors order, Bellaire Local Schools closure has been extended to May 1. Please continue to contact your teachers or principals with any questions as we move along with our online education.
